I’ve been fortunate to work in healthcare for many years, especially with seniors living with HIV/AIDS. Along the way, I’ve had the honor of working closely with caregivers and have seen just how essential they are, not only to the individuals they care for but to the families who depend on them. These experiences have shaped my passion for supporting elders, caregivers, and the broader community with compassion, understanding, and respect.

I genuinely believe in the value of acts of service as a way to give back. My motto is to always approach situations with a mindset of contribution. I really enjoy spending time with seniors and listening to their stories about “the good old days.”  Those small gestures we offer can be incredibly fulfilling for us and help them feel a sense of belonging. A few years ago, I volunteered for an elderly woman with macular degenerate, and we developed a strong friendship despite our 60-year age difference! I shared dinners with her at her retirement community, called bingo on Wednesday nights, and spent countless hours of on her couch discussing life. She holds a special place in my heart, and I will always cherish the moments we shared.

I started out being a caregiver for my ailing father and loved it so much that I became a full-time caregiver for others as well. Being a caregiver is extremely rewarding because you build special relationships, and there is still so much to learn from our elders. It is important to keep the elderly safe, happy, and healthy in their own environment as long as possible, and I am proud to be a part of a company that is doing just that.

I'm grateful to have the opportunity to care for both my mother and my husband in my home for many years, which taught me the value of caregiving and the importance of seeking help when needed. My personal experience with Help at Home Senior Care as a customer to help me care for my husband in his last months of Alzheimer's was incredibly positive. I'm now proud to be part of their team helping to educate and support overwhelmed family caregivers and community members about the availability of in-home care services.
